Getting your property ready for sale doesn’t have to mean spending thousands on renovations. Often, it’s the small, affordable improvements that make the biggest difference to how buyers see your home. With a little time and preparation, you can create a great first impression without blowing your budget.

1. Declutter and create space

Less clutter helps buyers focus on the property itself and makes rooms feel larger. Pack away excess furniture, personal items, and anything sitting on kitchen benches or bathroom vanities. You don’t need to remove everything, just aim for clean, open spaces that allow buyers to picture themselves living there.

2. Give everything a good clean

A thorough clean can go a long way. Pay particular attention to kitchens, bathrooms, windows, floors and mirrors. Clean windows let in more natural light, while fresh-smelling, tidy rooms help create a welcoming feel during inspections.

3. Tidy up the outside

First impressions start before buyers even walk through the front door. Mow the lawn, trim garden edges, pull out weeds and sweep paths and driveways. Adding fresh mulch to garden beds or giving the front door a quick coat of paint can also make a noticeable difference without costing much.

4. Fix the little things

Small maintenance jobs can have a big impact. Replace blown light globes, tighten loose door handles, fix dripping taps and remove cobwebs. These simple fixes help your property feel well-maintained and ready for its next owners.

5. Keep styling simple

You don’t need expensive furniture or professional styling to make your home look its best. Fresh white towels, neatly made beds, open blinds and a few simple decorative touches can help rooms feel brighter and more inviting.
